Best Neighborhood In- fill Project
Morris Square
Civitas, the same developer who brought I’On to Mount Pleasant, is re- inventing the
wheel in the Morris Street area by building 64 units, six of which are reserved for
affordable housing prices. Plans are to help out with the area’s tendency to flood, too.
Higher density townhouses will be studded around a public park, with a walking area and
gathering spots. It’s hard to tell which is more impressive: that Civitas is going to
completely revitalize an area, or that it was able to knit together the land for the project
from parcels belonging to the City, a synagogue, a church, and the YMCA. Civitas is
working on getting final engineering permits as you read this, so ground could be broken
as soon as this spring. –Bill Davis
