Eco-fashion in the NY Times Magazine
It’s getting bigger and better every day: the eco-fashion trend got some coverage in Sunday’s NY Times Magazine (4/27/08). While I’d be thrilled if fur - even from a brush-tailed possum, apparently a “scourge” in Australia - never, ever, was called “fashion” again, compiling a list of sustainable fabrics and materials available to designers is an excellent step towards making luxury eco-friendly. The high fashion institution hasn’t figured out a way around the transport-carbon emissions thing yet, but any progress in this beauty-at-all-costs industry is incredibly welcome. At least New Zealand wool leaves the sheep intact.
