Sales begin on first homes in Mixson
By Daily Journal Staff
The I’On Group on Sept. 29 will open an information office and begin selling the first homes in Mixson, its new neighborhood in the Park Circle area of North Charleston.
The I’On Group has worked for six years with the city of North Charleston, city council members and community leaders on creating the project, which will add to revitalization efforts in Park Circle and efforts to create sustainable urban neighborhoods based on historical town planning principles.
Vince Graham, founder of the I’On Group, said the nearby neighborhoods of Liberty Hill and Palmetto Gardens are examples of enduring communities that make up the Park Circle area and that Mixson will be an extension of that broader community.
Residences at Mixson include one-, two- and three-bedroom attached and detached single-family homes priced from the mid-$150,000s. Construction will be completed by mid-2008.
The homes use some of the newest “green” building techniques and are built with aerated autoclaved concrete blocks, an alternative to concrete masonry units that offer energy-saving and weather-resistant benefits.
The 44-acre neighborhood will include pedestrian-friendly streets, alleyways and green space inspired by historic downtown Charleston and other older cities throughout the world. The neighborhood is 10 miles from Charleston and 4 ½ miles from Charleston International Airport.
Alys Campaigne, vice president of strategy and marketing for the I’On Group, said the location of the project is powerful.
“It is centrally located, close to the shops and the business district, and we anticipate more opportunities for transit in the area,” Campaigne said. “It’s an ideal place to create a great urban community.”

Owning an energy-efficient dishwasher that always runs fully loaded is great, but air-drying your dishes after the wash cycle can further reduce power use. Reducing the number of dishes you use will create even greater savings. And what about your dish soap? Is it biodegradable? Accounting for the natural consequences of our decisions can be a full-time job.
