Concert for Change Announced for October 11 in Mt. Pleasant
For Immediate Release
Mt. Pleasant, SC- Music of Hope and Community focused on the November elections will fill the air at the Amphitheater in the I’On Community in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina on Saturday, October 11 during the concert for change. The concert is free and open to the public. It will begin at 5 pm and end at 6:30. The amphitheater is located at 100 West Shipyard Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. In case of rain, the concert will be held the following day at the same time.
The concert will open with the Voices of Harmony, a Father and Son A cappella duo presenting the best in African American Heritage gospel and soul. Sharon Robles and Nu Myth will present the second set, including progressive folk and rock favorites, including some of their original material. The concert will conclude with a sing along. You’ll be able to preview the music on ION Internet Radio, AM 1640 or www.ionradio1640.com.
Representatives of Obama for President, Ketner for Congress and Middleton for Coroner campaigns as well as MoveOn.org will set up information booths at the concert to meet with voters and offer opportunities to become involved for progressive change in this election.
Everyone’s invited to bring “Red meat for the base,” canned protein foods such as beef stew, pork, spam, ham, tuna & salmon for donation to East Cooper Community Outreach.
Picnics are welcome at the concert. A blanket or folding chair is suggested for lawn seating. Children are welcome. Organizers are asking people to get there green if they can by bicycle, on foot, by electric vehicle or by using the CARTA Flex Bus (747-0922) which serves the neighborhood.   Auto parking will be in the marked spaces on the street. Parking maps will be distributed on I’On Square starting at 4 pm. Cars improperly parked may be towed.
An electric vehicle shuttle system will operate along N. Shelmore Blvd. before and after the concert to assist visitors in getting to and from their cars and will include a stop at the nearby BI-LO parking lot. Cars entering I’On will have an opportunity to stop at a sticker station on I’On Square near O’Brion’s to get bumper stickers applied to their cars and to pick up yard signs.

The concert is a part of a full day of East Cooper Campaign activities which will also include a Breakfast for O’Bama at Bodacious Bagels, a morning walk on Wonders Way along the Ravenel Bridge and fundraising dinners and a rally for Congressional Candidate Linda Ketner. A video will be produced of the day’s events for online and broadcast distribution.
