Neighborhood Update from Chad Besenfelder, I’On’s General Manager
The following is an update from Chad, I’On’s manager.
The I’On Company, SCDOT, and the Town of Mount Pleasant are now working together to create a new landscape design for the Mathis Ferry Roundabout. DOT denied our initial request for an oak tree. The I’On Assembly agreed to help with the design and planting should begin in November when conditions are favorable.Â
Chad Besenfelder met with local landscape architect Sheila Wertimer to begin design enhancements for Phase 7 Georgetown Park and Memorial Park. Robert Mills Circle has welcomed new neighbors and the time to improve park conditions is near. We hope to have a conceptual plan for I’On Assembly review early October.Â
The Jefferson Canal project is moving forward. Historic Concepts along with Structures Building Co. have drawn preliminary designs for ten new homes. The I’On Company is working on infrastructure changes and town approvals. Homes will range in size from 2200 to 2400 square feet with special features including terraces, balconies, guest suites, and private courtyards. We plan to enhance canal walking paths and add a public sitting park along the waterway. Please feel free to contact Chad Besenfelder at the I’On Company for more information, at Chad@iongroup.com. Â
The I’On Company hired arborists to help us better understand our community trees. We are working with these experts to learn proper maintenance techniques that will help our trees thrive. The I’On Square oak tree will be the first scheduled for pruning this fall. Other enhancements are planned including spilt rail fences along the Rookery dam, new irrigation system for Saturday Road island near the Creek Club, and added street parking on Rialto Road.Â
I’On Realty is working on new lot sale programs that will attract buyers interested in building custom homes. We have a number of great lots available and welcome builders and individual buyers to visit our office for more promotional details.
